Durga (Sanskrit: दुर्गा, IAST: Durgā), distinguished a head and mainstream type of the Hindu Goddess Parvati.[5][6][7] She is a goddess of war, the warrior type of Parvati, whose folklore bases on fighting disasters and satanic powers that compromise harmony, success, and Dharma the intensity of good over evil.[6][8] Durga is likewise a wild type of the defensive mother goddess, who releases her celestial fury against the fiendish for the freedom of the persecuted, and involves pulverization to enable creation.[9]
Durga is portrayed in the Hindu pantheon as a goddess riding a lion or tiger, with numerous arms each conveying a weapon,[3] regularly crushing Mahishasura (lit. bison demon).[10][11][12] The three chief types of Durga revered are Maha Durga, Chandika and Aparajita. Of these, Chandika has two structures called Chandi and of Chamunda who is a type of Kali made by the goddess for executing evil presences Chanda and Munda. Maha Durga has three structures: Ugrachanda, Bhadrakali and Katyayani.[13][14] Katyayani Durga is additionally adored as her nine sobriquets called Navadurga.
