Deva is the Hindu expression for god; be that as it may, devata (Devanagari: देवता; Khmer: ទេវតា (tevoda); Javanese, Balinese, Sundanese, Malay: dewata; Batak dialects: debata (Toba), dibata (Karo), naibata (Simalungun); Philippine dialects: diwata) is a littler, more engaged deva.
